The Hawaii State ID card is a government issued identification and an alternative to the Hawaii driver license, for those who do not drive a vehicle.
You can also retain your current existing drivers license from another state and get this ID as a supplement to show Hawaii residency (It’s cheaper than a drivers license and you don’t have to take the test.)
Anyone applying for an original or renewal of their Hawaii State Identification Card must present documentary proof of legal name, date of birth, social security number, legal presence and proof of principal residence address in person at any Driver License location.
For a specific list of acceptable documents and FAQs, please visit the Department of Transportation Hawaii State ID page.
